Dr's Appointment

Today was my first "real" doctor's appointment. The first was just a confirmation of the pregnancy. I didn't even see the doc. Today I got weighed. I lost 5 lbs! Everything looks good. My labs came back great, and my blood pressure was perfect. I thought that my iron might be low, but it's not. It's 12.4.

I didn't think we would be able to hear the baby's heart beat because I'm only 10 weeks and 4 days, and I'm heavier than I was when I got pregnant with Claire. My first appointment with Claire I was 12 1/2 weeks and skinnier, but we weren't able to hear it. However, we were able to hear it today! I was so excited! Kev wasn't there. Claire was though. When Dr Long told Claire that was the baby's heart beat she said, "That's baby Kaylen or Lindon!" The heart rate was 161. It makes it a little bit more real to me. My next appointment is March 12th, Kev's B-day. I'm excited about going through all this again, and that Claire is going to be able to participate.

That is so exciting hearing the heart beat! Don't they say the higher the heart beat, it's usually a girl? Hmm... Maybe Claire will have another sister. We'll see in a couple of months!

That's the wives tale. At this stage though the baby is so little that the HR is going to be that high no matter what gender. According to the wives tale I think you start at 20 weeks. I don't believe that though. My doctor said he had 5 girls in a row, and their HR were low. I wouldn't mind having another little girl to dress up real cute though!
